London Netball Academy (formerly Chalkhill Youth Netball Club) was founded in September 2011 following a needs questionnaire involving local young people in the Barnhill ward of Brent. There had not been a netball club for girls in Brent for many years and it soon became popular and numbers increased when coaches supported Brent primary and secondary school netball leagues, later to broaden our horizons and deliver a number of netball programmes.
We know that there are a number of large clubs in neighbouring boroughs, however, we are proud to be a small 'family' like club where girls of all ages know each others names.
We value that you choose to join us and hope that you value our aims and objectives and support the good sportsmanship and camaraderie that makes us a great club to be part of.
Girls in Years 10-13 play together in leagues, competitions and friendly matches and represent their home borough in the U19 netball competition of the London Youth Games for either Brent or Harrow.
Do you enjoy watching or playing netball?
Are you interested in becoming a qualified netball umpire or coach?
Can you spare a few hours twice a month?
We are looking for volunteers to join our committee, support the development of the club, fundraise and help at matches.
Contact us by email for more information on volunteering with us.
Training is on a Saturday morning (term time) from 10am at our new venue; Kingsbury High (lower) School, Stag Lane, NW9.
League matches are on a Sunday morning from 9:30am.
We advise car sharing where possible when travelling to matches.
Within the Restart Guidance, further clarification on the rule of six is explained. Whether indoors or outdoors, the maximum number allowed per court remains at 30 including coaches and officials. If indoors, for 18 year olds and over, the group must be organised in discrete groups of six. Bubbles of six should not mix within the training session and there must be sufficient space to ensure bubbles do not come into close contact with one another. Coaches must maintain social distancing and not mix cross bubble. Competitive, seven-a-side matches are still not permitted indoors as this breaches the rule of six.
Other changes to highlight include:
Each year our members participate in a team building activity at the Phoenix Outdoor Centre and venture onto the Welsh Harp lake.
It's always lots of fun and you can guarantee someone will get wet!
Last year it took place on 6th July and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
